Today I walked to work at Sogo with Rex & Claudia (the ALT from Spokane) and then rode my bike back to the Kansai Super (grocery store). First off, it doesn’t open until 0930 so I sat and waited. There was quite a crowd when the doors finally opened. I spent about 2 hours just wandering up and down the isles trying to figure out what everything was. Lots of whole, dried fish in bags – eyes and all! Also, fresh seafood, seaweed and the biggest selection of tofu I’ve ever seen – all shapes and sizes and preparations. Thank God! I bought about 3 bags full of food (I had to make it home on my bike still!) and spent about 5000 yen (about $45) so not too bad. They have some western style food but it’s different. I hope to go back with Yumi so I can ask her what everything is.
