Errands

Today, has been quiet. We are resting up for our Kyoto trip tomorrow. 650 square feet isn't too big even if cellmates get along. So I gave Chrissy the morning off and left her at home alone. I took another trip to my school, Kawaragi, with a stop at the Hankyu station to find an English version of the Japan Times. Unfortunately they didn't have any of the newspapers at the only stand I have ever seen them at, so I rode on. I stopped at every 7-11 I saw and took a quick look for the newspaper. No one had it.

Eventually I made it to my school. This time I actually rode around it. There are two or more buildings with a courtyard between. They are big concrete boxes without any achitectural interst at all, but there is an outdoor pool! I will drop a link so you can take a look at it. Look for Kawaragi on the left side of the blog. The school has a large dirt field to the south and a pool on its north side. If you zoom out and move Kawaragi of to the right side of the page, you might be able to find a dirt track of to the west of the school. Our cho is just to the north and west on the other side of that sports complex. It may be a couple of miles to ride, but no big deal. I should be able to do it in 15 minutes or so.

I came home and Chrissy and I went back to the Hankyu station to find the bookstore with an English language section. We found it on the 4th floor. Books are expensive, but cool. Chrissy said she would probably hang out down there while I am at work. She has plenty to read and a coffee shop on the south side. You can see the high rises of Osaka off in the distance. It will be a nice place for her. Work with kids starts in two weeks. I can't wait.

We never did find a Japan Times. We found out it wasn't published today because it is a holiday.
