My First week of April office

Down the hall, where my desk was yesterday they are introducing the new people to the office. March is the month of greatest change in the schools in Japan. Teachers and administrators are given their new assignments. Sogo Center is subject to the similar rotation.

Sakurai the former director of the international program has been promoted to Vice Director of Sogo Center. Shimizu, who had worked in Sogo last year, now is in Sakurai’s former position. Matsunaga has been shifted back to a junior high school to teach English. Sogo Center has likewise added additional staff and responsibilities. Sogo will now house the special education offices.

With the new people in the office they have shifted the ALTs to the old conference room. They rotated the secretarial and accounting staff to the old work room and moved much of the storage and ALT desks to the conference room, where the ALT office is now.

I took a few minutes this morning to rearrange our new office. Really, I just restacked some boxes and moved the desks to the center of the room to create some walk space. I opened the shades to let some daylight into the room. The Japanese use their windows mostly for ventilation, not for light or for views.

Today, I have my computer set up and I am playing music on itunes. This is as close as I my American office as I have been since I have been here. This office will be my sanctuary for the first week of April.
