The first Chinese Farmacia I saw was in Macau. I figured it was like this only because I was in Old Taipa Village. But here in Kowloon & Hong Kong they are everywhere as well. I would have to assume that means they are a very respected and well used form of treatment.
There is actually a 1 hour class on Chinese Medicine offered by the Tourism Board that I'd like to catch if I can. They offer many classes, walks & guided tours for free but they fill up fast.To be fair, I also have seen Pharmacies that appear more Western with medications in boxes behind a counter with a Pharmacist presiding.
However they seem more like a Mexican Farmacia than our American kind. I have to say though, that I am intrigued by the centuries old, tried & true methods. I'm just a bit chicken to try them myself. Probably because of my training, I'm much more comfortable with the FDA approved, measured chemicals that combine to become the medications I know and understand . . . somehow, doesn't something seem wrong with that. Last night we walked by a very large Medical Center in Kowloon.

It was huge and modern, but very institutional. I had to stop and take a picture of the ER entrance and an Ambulance pulling in. All I can say is, we sure are lucky to have a beautiful hospital in Pullman.
